Procedure for endotracheal intubation Procedure What is the depth of endotracheal intubation in cm?

The depth of endotracheal intubation is usually 22-24cm away from the incisor in adult males and 20-22cm away from the incisor in adult females during oral intubation. During nasal intubation, the general depth is 18-22cm.

What is the depth of the endotracheal tube in cm?
Endotracheal intubation depth refers to the distance from the front end of endotracheal intubation to the alveolar.

The depth of endotracheal intubation is usually 22-24cm away from the incisor in adult males and 20-22cm away from the incisor in adult females during oral intubation. During nasal intubation, the general depth is 18-22cm.

However, in the actual process of operation, the specific depth of intubation should be determined according to the patient’s height, weight or neck thickness and other factors.

Therefore, after endotracheal intubation, generally stethoscope can be used to check whether the sound of lung ventilation is normal, laryngoscope can also be used to observe the position of endotracheal intubation in the throat, or chest radiograph can be taken to determine the position of endotracheal intubation, to determine whether the endotracheal intubation is inserted in place, and whether the endotracheal intubation depth needs to be adjusted.

Procedure for endotracheal intubation
1. Examine the oral cavity and nasal cavity of the patient and discharge the internal residual secretions or vomit.

2, the patient should keep supine position, shoulder cushion pillow, head back, try to keep the mouth, throat and trachea at the same level.

3. The medical worker holds the laryngoscope in his left hand, slowly insert it along the back bend of the patient’s tongue to the base of the tongue, gently lift the epiglottitis cartilage and expose the glottis.

4. Hold the endotracheal catheter in the right hand, enter the patient’s mouth or nasal cavity, insert the tip of the catheter accurately and dexterously into the glottis, and gently rotate the catheter so that it can be smoothly inserted into the trachea through the glottis.

5. Pull out the tube core, place the dental pad first, and then take out the laryngoscope.

Check whether gas is discharged from the outer opening of the tracheal tube during breathing, or whether the breath sounds of the lungs on both sides are consistent during auscultation. After confirming that the cannula is correct, it is fixed with the dental pad. The depth of the catheter inserted into the trachea was 4 ~ 5cm for adults, and the distance between the tip of the catheter and the incisor was 18 ~ 22cm.
